Datacenter vs Residential Proxies: A 2025 Speed Benchmark

Methodology
Over a 30-day window we issued 1.2M requests from identical client environments through ProxyCrown's datacenter and residential pools. Targets included e-commerce, SERP, and social platforms across 12 regions.
Latency Results
Datacenter proxies clocked an average P50 of 38ms vs. residential's 96ms — but residential success rate against tier-1 sites was 4.7× higher. The right answer depends on the target, not the protocol.
When to Pick Which
For static catalogs and price-tracking, datacenter wins. For SERP, social, and ticketing, residential is non-negotiable. Hybrid routing — residential first, datacenter on fallback — gave us the best blended cost.
